Klein, Texas—From the kindergarten classrooms of Hassler Elementary to the auditorium of Klein Cain High School, senior Sara Springett’s journey through Klein ISD has been defined by perseverance, passion, and the transformative power of music.

In 2019, tragedy struck when Sara’s father, Frank Springett, a respected executive and devoted family man, passed away in a sudden biking accident. Just 12 years old at the time, Sara was left to navigate a world without one of her greatest supporters.

“There is no way to prepare yourself for the grief that comes with the loss of a parent until you are experiencing it,” Sara said. “I still felt hopeless, unable to return to my joyous self again—until I found a spark.”

That spark came in the form of song. Near the end of her sixth-grade year at Doerre Intermediate, Sara auditioned for her school’s talent show and discovered a sanctuary in singing. It was a moment that reshaped her path and ignited a passion that would carry her through some of life’s most difficult moments.

Gratitude and Growth in Klein ISD

Sara’s growth as a scholar and performer was fostered by her support system at home and our Klein ISD community—teachers, peers, and mentors who uplifted her every step of the way.

“Klein ISD offers many opportunities for young students to discover music, and most importantly, we have teachers who truly care,” she said.

Among those instrumental in her journey is Klein Cain Choir Director Mr. Austin Dean.

“Not only has he helped me grow musically, but he has been one of my biggest supporters,” Sara said. “His belief in me, combined with keeping me grounded, inspires me to continue with my journey.”

A Future Fueled by Passion and Purpose

Sara’s collegiate ambitions reflect a deep commitment to both art and science. She plans to attend the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music to pursue dual paths in classical opera and neuropsychology—fields that, to her, are intimately connected.

“Throughout my academic journey, I have always been fascinated by the neurological system, specifically the brain and its function in regards to psychology and human function,” Sara said. “After discovering music and realizing its positive effects, I’ve wanted to dive into the healing power that music has on a scientific level. Besides performing, I aspire to be a research-based neuropsychologist or a music therapist, expanding and exploring the boundaries of classical music’s impact on the medical world.”

Whether performing as a soprano or researching the therapeutic effects of music, Sara hopes to use her personal experience combined with the education she will receive at the collegiate level to inspire and support others.

Looking Ahead

As she prepares for graduation as #27 in the Klein Cain Class of 2025, Sara stands as a shining example of Klein ISD’s vision: every student enters with a promise and exits with a purpose. Her story reminds us that even from the darkest times in our lives, something truly beautiful can emerge—and that with the right support, we can rise above any obstacle.

“I am incredibly grateful to be part of a district that supports passions across all disciplines,” Sara said. “This has been my home, and I carry it with me into the next chapter.”

Congratulations, Sara! Our Klein Family is always rooting for you!
