Klein, Texas – Klein Collins High School is proud to announce that Cadet Rebekah Ross has been selected as the AFJROTC Cadet of the Year for the sub-region, a highly competitive honor awarded annually to the most exceptional third-year cadets across multiple JROTC programs.
“I am honored to have been able to represent Klein ISD and to have earned this award. It was a long journey up to this point, which I know I wouldn't have been able to get to without the support of family, friends, school, and instructors,” Ross said.
The award, part of the AFJROTC Cadet Leadership Award program, uses a "whole person" evaluation to recognize cadets who exemplify outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, athletics, character, and community service. Cadet Ross distinguished herself in every category.
“Through her hard work, dedication, and outstanding leadership, Rebekah Ross has earned the distinguished honor of AFJROTC Sub-Region Cadet of the Year,” Klein Collins Principal Randy Kirk said. “Her presence in our school community is a true example of servant leadership—uplifting peers, strengthening our culture, and modeling Excellence Without Compromise in all she does. Congrats, Rebekah! Your KC family is so proud of you!”
Academically, Rebekah ranks in the top 10% of her class, holds a weighted GPA of 5.20, and has completed eight college-level courses. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a Flight Academy selectee attending the University of West Florida this summer.
“Through the past years leading to this award, I have truly learned about how grit and dedication can get you anywhere in life,” Ross said. “I owe that to JROTC and am so grateful to be able to be part of it.”
As Cadet Corps Commander, Rebekah leads over 160 cadets and has organized major events including Summer Orientation, Change of Command ceremonies, and leadership development courses. She is a two-time Grand Champion Raider team member, captain of the JV soccer team, a varsity letterman in cross country and track, and was recently named MVP of the Klein Collins Girls Soccer program.
Her commitment to service includes volunteer efforts with disaster relief, veterans’ outreach, environmental initiatives, and extensive involvement in her church’s youth leadership programs.
Rebekah’s selection as Cadet of the Year reflects not only her individual excellence but also the strength and dedication of the entire Klein Collins AFJROTC unit.
Congratulations on this exceptional honor, Rebekah! Thank you for leading by example for all the kids here in Klein ISD.
