Klein, Texas– The Klein ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a 2025 tax rate of $1.0119 per $100 valuation during their meeting on October 6, 2025, maintaining the same rate as last year.
Although the tax rate remains unchanged, the overall tax levy will decrease due to a reduction in taxable property values following the increase in the state homestead exemption. This means many homeowners will see a lower Klein ISD portion on their property tax bills this year.
“The Board’s decision to maintain the same low tax rate reflects our ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility while continuing to prioritize student learning and staff support,” said Klein ISD Chief Financial Officer Dan Schaefer. “Our district’s rate remains among the lowest in the Houston area, even as we maintain high-quality educational programs and safe, modern learning environments for every student.”
Under Texas law, even when a district keeps the same tax rate, it must include statutory language stating the rate represents an “11.59 percent increase” over the state’s calculated “no new revenue” rate. This requirement can be misleading, as Klein ISD’s actual tax rate is not increasing, and total collections are expected to decrease because of the expanded homestead exemption.
