“Video modeling is a research-based strategy that helps students learn by watching and practicing independently,” Ms. Schultz said. “We’re creating QR codes that link directly to training videos on each piece of equipment so students can access help instantly while they work.”
Growing Success and Community Partnerships
The program’s success is already evident. So far this school year, adult learners have obtained part-time employment at businesses such as Little Caesars, HTeaO, and local golf courses, with others interviewing at H-E-B and Kroger.
The team is actively developing internship opportunities across district departments and local businesses, and staff anticipate that the Klein Community Classroom initiative will play a key role in preparing students for future district employment.
Bridge Center adult learner Justin Mansfield works at Little Caesars and volunteers in the Klein Oak concession stands. His educators describe him as hardworking, dedicated, and a true example of what the program strives to achieve. Justin is grateful to the Bridge Center and its staff for the opportunities he receives.
“The Bridge Center has taught me teamwork and how to work with others. I have learned how to talk to customers and acquired new skills like making coffee, taking inventory, and conducting interviews,” Justin said. “I like learning new skills and jobs that help me. These skills helped me get my job at Little Caesars and the Klein Concession Stand."
As the Bridge Center continues to grow, staff are focused on expanding partnerships, internships, and new learning opportunities, including a campus-based laundry service designed to simulate home and vocational skills.
