Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown praised the students and staff for the accomplishment.
"This historic achievement by the Klein Cain Orchestra as the top-ranked orchestra in Texas reflects Klein ISD’s long tradition of excellence in the arts,” Dr. McGown said. “We are so proud of our dedicated directors and outstanding students, and we can’t wait to cheer them on at TMEA.”
Students described months of focused rehearsals and teamwork leading to this achievement.
“I’m just so beyond excited. I can’t put into words how I feel,” senior orchestra student Brendan Braband said. “I’m so grateful that all of our hard work has finally paid off, and I can’t wait to share our music with the community in February.”
Junior orchestra student Daniela Toro shared how the program has shaped her high school experience.
“Most of my friends come from this program,” Toro said. “Being involved in orchestra has positively influenced my academics and social life because a lot of people here push you to be greater.”
In 2022, Klein Cain was the youngest school among the finalists and advanced to the state finals for the first time in school history. Three years later, the program—led by Mohi-Truong and Assistant Director Hanson Yong—has earned the top distinction in the state.
Participation in orchestra and other fine arts programs builds discipline, teamwork, leadership, and critical-thinking skills that support academic success. Fine arts are a cornerstone of Klein ISD’s AAA Promise, reflecting the district’s commitment to excellence in academics, arts, and athletics.
Klein Cain will celebrate the achievement on campus before traveling to the TMEA convention in February to perform for a statewide audience. Event details will be shared once confirmed.
