Klein Cain Soccer Celebrates State Victory with District Tour

Klein, Texas—Fresh off their historic state championship win, the Klein Cain High School boys soccer team took a victory lap through the district’s feeder schools, bringing homegrown inspiration straight to the halls where many of them once walked. With smiles, cheers, and heartfelt moments, the tour celebrated not just a trophy, but the deep connection between the team and the Klein community.

A Legacy of Brotherhood and Excellence

Led by first-year Head Coach Jerson Carrasco, the Hurricanes captured the UIL Class 6A Division I Boys Soccer title with a dramatic 1–0 overtime victory over Alief Elsik. The win marked Klein Cain’s first-ever team state championship in any sport. The season ended with an impressive 24-2-3 record, including a 22-match unbeaten streak and 18 shutouts.

Coach Carrasco, named Coach of the Year, watched with pride as his players brought joy to campuses across the district.

“The chemistry this year was incredible—more than a team, they’ve been like brothers,” Carrasco said. “Seeing these young men realize the impact they can have on younger students, that’s something they’ll carry with them for life.”

Senior Parker Glenn, who scored the championship-winning goal and was named the title match’s Most Valuable Player, shared his own unforgettable moment.

“A kid at Hassler Elementary handed me a drawing he made of my goal and then gave me a hug like I was a superhero. It really hit me.”

A Full-Circle Moment for Champions

From hand-drawn posters to tearful hugs, the celebration tour was deeply emotional. Senior Andre Popa, named the season’s MVP and headed to Texas A&M this fall, was especially moved by a young student at Bernshausen Elementary.

“This little kid had a poster that said, ‘I love you, number 7, Andre Popa,’” Popa said. “It just caught me off guard—I had to take a picture with him. It made me feel really connected to the community.”

Other players echoed that sentiment. Junior Noah Ballard, a First Team All-District selection, was surprised by how many students already knew their names and stats.

“You don’t realize the impact you’ve had until a little kid says your name and talks about a goal you scored,” Ballard said.

A Program That Inspires

For the players, this moment was about giving back and building a future legacy.

“Stick with it, work hard, and you’ll get there,” Glenn advised young athletes. “This is about more than just wins—it’s about inspiring the next generation.”

As Klein Cain prepares for another competitive season, Ballard made the team’s mindset clear.

“We’ll have a target on our back as state champs, but we’ll be ready. We’re the team to beat.”
