Klein ISD Hosts 25th Annual Veterans Day Celebration

For the last 25 years, Klein ISD has proudly shown appreciation for the men and women who have bravely served our country.

Each year, the district invites veterans and active-duty military service members to the Klein Multipurpose Center for breakfast and a ceremony in their honor.

“Today, we are all here together to honor the heroes gathered in our midst, that is, every man and woman who has ever worn the uniform of our nation’s military—those who’ve courageously protected our freedom and fought for justice throughout our history,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “We salute the service of all veterans, and we keep in our thoughts and prayers those who have fallen, those who are missing, and those who are currently serving in harm’s way. Today and every day, thank you for your unwavering service in times of peace and in times of war, at home and abroad. Thank you for being our heroes.”

The event was made all the more remarkable as members from the Klein Collins, Klein Cain, and Klein High JROTC Programs were in attendance to honor our Veterans and service members. The Klein Collins Band, Klein Collins Chorale, and Hildebrandt Intermediate Choir also gave outstanding performances to honor guests.

“Veterans Day is a day to remember not only those who pushed above and beyond to strive to protect our country,” event emcee and Klein Collins Air Force Cadet Captain Angie Pantoja said. “It’s a day to show how great a community we can be, all together.”

Special guest speaker Klein ISD Director of Transportation and Marine Corps veteran, John Fergerson, addressed the audience with a heartfelt and touching memory from his time in combat. He also took a moment to extend a special thank you to the men and women who support our service members on the home front.

“After 20 years in the Marine Corps and three combat tours, I’ve learned that service and leadership don’t stop when you return home; they just take on new forms,” Mr. Fergerson said. “Veterans Day reminds me to stay grounded in those same values of teamwork, commitment, and looking out for others, whether it’s in our schools, our community, or right here at home.”

From the Hildebrandt Intermediate Choir performing "God Bless America" to the phenomenal Klein Collins Band playing the “Armed Forces Medley,” overwhelming patriotism and pride were evident across the ballroom. Attendants also enjoyed a beautiful rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Klein Collins Chorale.

Thank you, Veterans, from the bottom of our hearts. Special thanks to the many individuals who helped make Veterans Day a unique and memorable day. We are proud to have honored those who deserve the most recognition with each and every one of you.
