For one Klein ISD school in particular, this competition feels like a dream come true. Klein Collins High School was the district’s first cheer team to compete in a UIL competition just two short years ago.
“This competition has been a dream of mine for nearly seven years—ever since I was coaching at Kleb,” Klein Collins Cheer Coach Amy Smith said. “To see it finally come to fruition has been nothing short of incredible! I’m so proud of our district for recognizing the strength and talent of our amazing cheerleaders and for giving them the opportunity to showcase their skills in a variety of ways, going beyond just their sideline abilities. Our athletes demonstrate grit, tenacity, and an unmatched work ethic. It’s inspiring to see their dedication and passion for the sport truly recognized.”
As athletes, competition season is a meaningful time of the year. Being able to showcase their talents is a point of pride for many Klein ISD Cheer athletes.
For high school squads, this competition served as a showcase and an opportunity to receive professional feedback from judges that they can use to fine-tune their routines before the UIL competition in January. For intermediate school cheerleaders, the goal was to give them a true sense of what a high school competition feels like, so they’re ready to step into that environment with confidence when they move up.
“I was really impressed with how our student-athletes performed and represented Klein ISD at our first cheer competition,” Klein ISD Executive Director of Athletics and Student Services Brandon Baker said. “Our coaches did an outstanding job preparing their squads, and it showed in every routine. This event was a great reflection of our commitment to excellence in athletics and the strong culture our programs continue to build.”
