At just 12 years old, Krimmel Intermediate seventh-grader Toni Ugoh is already setting a powerful example of what it means to lead with kindness. Whether she’s playing volleyball, performing with the orchestra, or encouraging her classmates, Toni makes it her mission to make others feel seen, supported, and valued.
“I feel like you shouldn’t treat others badly, no matter how they treat you,” Toni said. “You should always show respect and treat others how you want to be treated.”
Known by her teachers and peers for her empathy and leadership, Toni goes out of her way to notice when others are having a tough day, offering to help with classwork, lending an ear, or simply sitting beside someone who needs company.
“Sometimes people don’t like to be alone when they’re upset,” Toni said. “Even just being there can make a difference.”
Toni’s kindness is matched by her commitment to growth and excellence. A proud member of the Krimmel volleyball team, orchestra, and student council, she also participates in Heroes Academy, Jack and Jill of America, and the Baking Club. She also volunteers at her church, often helping with younger children.
Her teachers describe Toni as ‘a kind soul and a true role model of a Krimmel Knight’, embodying the school’s values of respect, integrity, and compassion in everything she does.
When asked who inspires her, Toni points to her mother, a social worker.
“My mom helps a lot of people,” Toni said. “What she does for work shows kindness every day.”
Looking ahead, Toni hopes to continue developing her talents both in and out of the classroom. She plans to take advanced classes, keep pursuing her love of volleyball and music, and one day explore a career in cosmetology, a field that allows her to combine creativity and connection.
Her advice for others? “Never look down on yourself or other people,” Toni said. “You don’t know what others are going through or what’s ahead. Be kind—to them and to yourself.”
This World Kindness Week, Klein ISD proudly celebrates students like Toni Ugoh, who remind us that even the smallest acts of compassion can make a big impact. Congratulations, Toni! Your #KleinFamily is so proud of how you lead in kindness across your school and community.
