Klein, TX - Klein High School is proud to recognize recent Class of 2025 graduate Caroline Jacobson, who was named a finalist and received an Encouragement Award at the prestigious Schmidt Vocal Arts National High School Competition at the Sarasota Opera House in Florida.
Caroline, a mezzo-soprano, was one of just 16 finalists, alongside Klein Cain graduate Sara Springett, selected from 51 top high school classical singers nationwide. In addition to a $650 finalist award, she was one of six students to receive an additional $300 Encouragement Award, honoring her exceptional promise as a young artist.
"Caroline exemplifies the Klein ISD vision of every student entering with a promise and exiting with a purpose," Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts Frank Chuter said. "We commend her hard work, courage, and passion, and we know this is only the beginning of her musical journey. Congratulations to this remarkable talent on this well-deserved recognition!"
Finalists performed before a distinguished panel of judges, including world-renowned mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, countertenor John Holiday, and Melissa Wegner, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.
Caroline has continued her vocal training at the Schmidt Vocal Arts Summer Program, her second year participating in the elite program. This fall, she will head off to Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, where she will major in Vocal Performance with a minor in Political Science. She plans to pursue a Master's in Voice and perform in Opera houses all over the world.
Congratulations, Caroline! Your #KleinFamily is so proud of all your achievements and wishes you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors.
